Peter Keil

Peter Keil is a naturopath, counsellor, youth worker and artist who has specialised in working with the inner imaginal landscape for the past 10 years.

Peter’s work is based on his masters research in 2007 'thriving with depression' studying the strategies used by those who thrive despite long histories of depressive illness.
Peter’s other training and work experience including director of the UNCLE project, director of The Youth Affairs Council of Tasmania, practicing as a naturopath for 12 years and teaching Sociology of Health for Nursing and Spiritual Well being at Southern Cross University.
This extensive experience has led to the development of these workshops.

Peter has exhibited his own artwork over the years but has found that his polyglot nature has prevented him from pursuing his art as deeply as he would wish.

Peter’s work is important in that it synthesizes a range of useful strategies from normally very disparate fields, this synthesis can be seen to fit in to the larger frameworks of imaginal psychology and empowerment activism.

"To be conscious you need to do more than wake up to the world around you, you need to wake up to the world within as well and it is not always an orderly place in there, all sorts of complex driven characters live in there with there own motivations and agendas.

You might imagine that your sub consciousness is like a vast landscape, infinitely vast, after all you carry the whole universe in there, and the parts of that landscape that you 'know' are lit by the light of your attention.
As you pay attention to more and more of the characters in there, they form a village or town and the lit area expands and expands.
This is, of course, the work of being consciously alive.
The more you light up your inner world, the larger the border expands your shadow lands within.

In this workshop you will learn to meet your 'muse' and 'critic' characters in your personal landscape and to name/create your own character that you feel needs developing.
Gardening in the Imaginal Landscape assists you communicating with them and you will develop techniques to help them grow up and align themselves with your current path in life, for most of these characters are on your side but most are also 'immature', having formed early in life.

The enormous bonus of this work is that you will start to understand that your critic and your muse and all these other characters are not 'you' they are something else and this knowledge allows you to be talented in whatever way you are best for without attaching ego to the talent, and that is one hell of a big relief.'
